Fleet Carnival
Procession

What’s on when?

The Grand Procession is on Saturday 6th July 2024.

The theme is SAFARI and the Carnival Charity of the Year as chosen by the people of Fleet is Parity for Disability.

Before the procession sets off, all entries are scruitinised by our panel of Procession Judges and the awards given for:

  • best school entry
  • best walking entry
  • best motorised entry

There are three additional special awards for which the winners are selected during Carnival. The winners of these awards are announced on our Socials during the week.

The Sharyn Wheale Councillor’s Choice Award
The Sharyn Wheale Councillor’s Award has been created in memory or Sharyn Wheale, a long-serving councillor, representing Fleet East for almost 32 years and elected Chairman of the Council twice.
Sharyn sadly passed away in April 2022 and as an enthusiastic figure who had a long history with Fleet Carnival, organising, promoting, volunteering and oftentimes acting as a judge for our community awards and competitions, she is sorely missed.
The Anthony Barrell Committee’s Choice Award
The Carnival Committee established the Anthony Barrell Committee’s Choice Award, following the sad passing of our Carnival Vice President and former Treasurer in late 2022.
This award is made in memory of Anthony who joined the Carnival committee in 1989, serving as Treasurer for 25 years. Anthony was a vital part of Carnival in so many ways and the Committee were incredibly fortunate to have Anthony involved, sharing in his fundraising quest for local charities. Anthony was an integral part of the committee and he is deeply missed.
The Sasha Forster People’s Choice Award
In 2019, we introduced the Sasha Forster Peoples Choice Carnival Award.
Sasha loved Fleet Carnival, spectating every year until 2017, when she sadly passed away aged just 20. She wanted everyone to enjoy and take part in community events, to support and recognise efforts, so her family donated this award in Sasha’s memory.
The Sasha Forster Award is made each year to the procession entry that is voted most popular by the public through the Carnival Facebook page.
